i bought the sirius box from volvo part#31316789 and it took me about 3 hours to install it per directions and i even bought the cd that the dealer said i needed with it which was another 20 bucks and now i cant get it to work. called deaper parts department and they now tell me that i have to put it into there service department to reprogram my car?? sounds fishy as ive done this in 2 other cars that i own and never had to reprogram car. can anyone tell me if its bull or true or if there is a way of doing this my self as at this point im about ready to bring car back to dear with this problem and the stupid service light that wont reset thanks SPC Steven deGroot

 

Yes, there is software required.

 

i know there is softward thus the cd i had to get with the kit but is there a way of doing the software without bringing it to the shop thanks Steve

 

By software, I wasn't refering to the CD. It needs to be programmed(aka have software installed). Yes, you will need to take it in. It is not something you can get.
