Sirius Radio for 2006 S40
You may be out of luck...
I'm trying to find a way to add sirius to my 07 S40. It sounds hopeless. dealer says Volvo has no bulletin on how to do it. Volvocustomercare says it cannot be done on models later than 05. Car Toyz (Aftermarket) people say the same thing. they thought something might come outat CES show this week.Does anyone have an idea ?

I had the same problem with my 06 s40. I ended up installing a Sirius S50 plug/play receiver and feeding the sound into the factory radio through a wired FM modulator. It works just fine plus I am able to bring the receiver inside the house and listen to the radio at home as well. It also saved me a lot of $$ compared to the factory installed Sirius kit.
I purchased my 06 S40 about a month ago and have been racking my brain on the best Sirius setup to install. I am curious as to where you decided to mount the S50 inside the car? Did you have it professionally installed? Do you happen to have any pictures of the install?
I did the install myself with the help of a few products I found from searching around on the forums. Here is what all I used: Sirius DEI S50 and car kit Kuda mounting base that can be found at http://www.kudausa.com DEI Hardwired FM Modulator Relay that can be found at http://www.tss-radio.com/direct-adap...ay-p-4082.html Gregg Rocheford’s Patch cables to tap into the analog audio feed in the car http://www.greggrocheford.com/volvo/audio_solution.html
I mounted the S50 just directly to the right of the dash panel using the Kuda mount. I paid about $70 shipped for the mount. I feel it was worth it since no wiring of the install is visible and I wanted to look as close as possible to a Volvo factory option.[hr]
[hr] I then tapped into the analog FM antenna connection using these cables from Gregg Rocheford’s site for $14.[hr]
[hr] This is the Driver’s side C-pillar where the antenna wires connect to the antenna in the rear window. The bigger connection on the top is the FM connection. I attached the patch cables here and routed them down to the rear deck. You need to be extremely careful when routing the wires along the pillar since the components of the inflatable curtain are located here. Keep the wires high and do not let them touch or get wrapped around any of the airbag components. The wires can be tucked on the topside of the pillar trim, which will be guided away from the airbag components by the trims mounting tabs.[hr]
[hr] This is where I placed the FM Modulator Relay that I bought for $20. Using one of these makes a world of difference compared to wireless FM modulation. The signal comes in so much cleaner. It’s definitely worth spending the extra $35 to hook one of these up.[hr]
[hr] From there I ran the modulator wire and the satellite antenna wire over to the passengers side and then down and under the door sills and trim to the dash leaving all the wiring hidden under the trim. I really wish the AUX input option would have been available on the 06 models. That would have made it a real easy install.
