Default 2011 S40 Successful AC Recharge

Hi,

I have a 2011 S40 T5. The air conditioning was recently "coolish" with a vent temperature of approximately 70 F. The fan was blowing fine and hard. There was a clicking sound every 10 seconds coming from the engine, and after reading the forums here, I realized it was the compressor turning on/off. I bought a a/c pressure gauge and a can of 12oz of R-134a. Hooking up to the low pressure port on a 80F day, with ac on low temperature, full blower, I found that the pressure would go down to 15 when the compressor tried to turn on and then rose to about 50. I then hooked up the hose to the R-134a can (after disconnecting it from the port), and then added some new refrigerant. Soon the pressure rose to about 28 when the compressor was on, and the clicking on/off stopped. The vent temperature was then 44F. I had read that the low pressure should be in the 24-28 range when on high, so I stopped. It felt like I had used about 2/3 of the can as there was some refrigerant left.

I took a long road trip yesterday and the ac stayed ice cold the entire time. I was a bit nervous about this process given some others' experiences but the recharge appears to have worked well for me. I wouldn't have done it without the knowledge gained here (I wore glasses and gloves per recommendations).
