Default 60000 mile check up worth it

I am scheduled for my 60,000 mile service soon and I found out it costs about $530. This seems pretty excessive to me. I looked in the owner's manual and it looks like they just check over everything. Is there something I am missing here? Is there a reason that it is so expensive and if not then would it be bad to skip it?

Depending on the exact Dealer.
60k= Oil change,Fuel filter,Air filter,Coolant flush,Brake fluid flush, Spark plugs, Check of the entire car. Some will also rotate the tires as part of it. Oh and also Reset the Service light.

I got mine done, and it felt like new again! It was driving rough and stuff, and it was better than new!, I dont think they check the entire car, because if they did, they would have found the 2 leaks that i had - power steering fluid leak and trans gasket leak..

Tech is the trans gasket one of the gaskets changed in the 60k? they changed 7 gaskets....

I highly recommend following through with the scheduled maintenance. In reference to all the inspections, they help keep a small problem from becoming a big problem. If there is something wrong with your vehicle dont you want to know about it? I just had mine done a month ago and they found a leak in the exhaust flex pipe and fixed it under the 80,000 mile emissions warranty. If it would have gone unnotice i would have eventually had to shell out the $1200 rather than them fixing it for free. They also do other things rather than inspect, the spark plugs get changed which is important since it is a turbo vehicle. Also the airfilter, and cabin filter, oil, etc. All thing that definitely need regular attention. According to my dealer volvo also added a brake fluid flush and changing the serpentine belt as part of the maintenance package. (The dealer didnt even raise the price). All said and done I would get the maintenance done as it is important to keep your car running top notch. If you ever want to sell it having records of regular scheduled maintenance will help.
