is this a good deal?
hi-
since putting gas in my truck has gotten so expensive, i'm looking to buy an S40 for my commute. A local dealer has an 02 S40 with 84Kmi for $10000. It seems to be in good shape (maybe needs a couple of new tires, an oil change & a wax). The CarFax is clean. Would I be paying too much for an S40 w/this many miles on it? I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it, but since this is my first Volvo, I'd like the opinion of some others.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I have an 02 s40 with about 90000 miles. It runs beautiful but just check to see if timing belt was changed as that would have to be changed soon. It has minor annoying things that go wrong but nothing too costly. Value for 02 w/ 84000 miles is about $12000. I say go for it.
Its your call, volvo's are known to run great for a long time. But personally I wouldnt pay that price for an s40 with that amount of miles. You could probably shop around and find a private seller that would sell you a similar car for cheaper. I wouldnt buy it without having the service records to verify it has been maintained well. There are some notable problems with these cars and if you go through some of the posts you will see that. Coil packs and coolant sensors to name a few. Some people are also dissatisfied with the life of the rear brakes. Just realize that a volvo will last you a long time but does require maintenance which can often be costly
