I have a 2001 S40 1.9t and had a recent problem with the accelerator. Was driving 50 mph and took foot off accelerator and car continued going 50 mph. the car did not go faster or slower, kind of acted like the cruise control was on. The cruise was not on. Once car was brought to stop and foot was taken off brake, the car went froward at a higher than normal rpm and speed. the car traveled about 12 mph from a dead stop without ever touching the gas pedal. Any suggestions?

 

I think Toyota has a fix for that. Seriously though, I wouldn't play around finding that, get it to a dealer. Maybe they can download history or something and see what happened.
