ok, i want to buy a volvo s40 t5 (2007), and i have friends at this dealer. but at the dealer, they don't have any volvo navigation systems in the s40's for some reason. the dealer can install it but it costs 4 grand, so forget that. now i am looking for one i can get built into the s40, but i cant seem to find room to put a navigation system. if i can, i'm looking for one just like how volvo has it, or similar, because the center dash is too thin. maybe some sort of pop-up or something. but it also has to be from a good brand, like alpine, kenwood, pioneer, etc. i don't want the handeld navigation because i loose alot of stuff, and thats expensive. if i cant get the navigation system, i cant get the car...

Hi, I bought a 2007 s40 T5 in March of this year. I had the EXACT same problem. I wanted the Navi, and there was only 1 on the lot. It was however a horrible color that I refused to drive. I went ahead and made the deal on the the one with the bad color and then right up at the end said I was sorry there was just no way I could drive a car that color. Now earlier I was told it was impossible to get any with navi, that's all they had, they are hard to find, very rare, blah blah blah. Well, suddenly they were able to find 3 different ones on boats from sweeden to the u.s. They had to arrange a swap with the dealer who was suppossed to get said car, but they did it and I got my Navi. I say push them. You're spending a lot of money you should get what you want.

I looked into the aftermarket option too, none of them worked with the s40 because of it's design, unless it was freestanding and like you I didn't want that.

I don't think you will find one, just keep pushing Volvo to find you one with the Navi. I have mine now and love it!
