Default Air Intake Upgrade Q? and General Quality Q?

I have a 2005 S40 2.4i (non-turbo) I have 38,000 miles on it and it's time to change the air filter. What will it do to my car if I install one of those k&n cold air inductions...(Good or Bad)

Also, I'd just like to hear one story on here about a person with a 2003 or newer S40 with 80K or more miles on it whose never had a costly repair other than the scheduled maintenance. Can I hear some good stories for once? I'm getting scared.

Um expect to gain little to no horsepower with the intake setup. Your NA and even with a turbocharged Volvo the CAI wouldn't give you much. Mostly your going to get sound. And if you like the sound a lot go for it, but I can tell you will punch that gas to hear it so expect your gas mileage to go down because of it. NA's are kind of pointless to upgrade engine wise unless you have loads of money.

I just installed my own custom intake over the weekend. I am happy with it.

I have the T5 engine however. I agree anytime you allow an engine to breath freer you will gain HP.
