RE: Anyone have the Volvo iPod FM Transmitter
Have you had this installed? From my research, it is still a FM transmitter, without direct connection. It seems that the wiring harness only provides power to the Ipod, not audio connection. Does anyone know if this is correct? I've got the 2005 S-40, and can't find any audio upgrades at all. Any ideas?

what do you mean audio upgrades? any car can receive newer/nicer speakers and if ur talking about subs you can google how to make a custom box and all that. i used an FM transmitter, not installed by volvo, just the little thing u plug onto the top of ur ipod. forgot how crappy my ipod was until all i heard was white noise comin out of my speakers. never used it again...

I was trying to get digital audio... either by connecting an ipod, or a mp3/CD player. As you've mentioned the FM transmitter solution has poor quality. There are wired FM transmitters, or aux input boxes that are wired directly into the stereo. The S-60 can use these, but not the S40. We also cannot change out the CD player for a CD/mp3 combo, or put an extra CD player in the trunk, as far as I know. [&o] I've got the premium sound package; the speakers sound good to me...
