Default Anyone using the Volvo iPod FM Transmitter

Has anyone had the iPod FM Transmitter (the one you get directly from Volvo), installed in their car? I've got an '06 S40 and am scheduled to have this installed on Friday. How does it work, look, etc.

Hoping that it looks good in the car and does cause any type of noises and also that it works well. Also, does anyone know if it will work with the video iPod?

Thanks for the help.

Yeah most of the i-pod transmiters stink. I have a 91 740 volvo with a stock tape deck and i just had an old cd-car kit lieing around and i jsut use the tape for my i-pod. works great. thats your best bet.

Your best bet is to buy an after market sterio and buy an adapter for an RCA/3.5 mm headphone extention cord....FM transmitters suck regardless what they meant for. Pioneer has the best adapter...it plugs into the CD changer (IP-BUS Port).

2004 V40.

I have the iTrip, and just doesn't work in car....I wonder if due to antenna being in the rear. I'm looking to put something like the USA Spec PA11-VOL into car and completely eliminate any need for adapter or transmitter. Also allows control from stereo itself of pod. I believe this is for HU series stereo...

cheers
Matt

I am in the same boat as you Matt. I have the iTrip which really only works in the mountains with no other signal to interfere, once you are in town and there is 105 radio stations broadcasting you get all kinds of minor and annoying interference. I just purchased the USA SPEC PA11-VOL on eBay for $125 delivered. Looking froward to the install. on my 2005 V70
