Blown head gasket??
I just picked up a 2001 S40 that the PO said had a blown head gasket. I haven't had a chance to tear it apart yet because of my schedule, But it doesn't seem like the head gasket is the only issue. It spews coolant out of the right side of the motor causing it to lose all o it very quickly. It also looks like it has coolant in the oil and oil in the coolant. Does this just look like a totally messed up head gasket? or something else?
Thanks!
Thanks!
its possible it overheated due to a hose or overflow container which took out the head/head gasket. You'd need to see where the coolant is leaking out - ie at the seam of the head/block or elsewhere. If you decide to do the head gasket, best to have a shop dye test the head as well for cracks, and inspect the block's freeze plugs and other coolant paths.
