I have similar problem with my s40t. When I start the car then press on the brake, the light comes on. At this time the right side brake light (and other lights within that side) do not work. After a few min of driving I go to press on the brake and the warning light goes out, the rear right side lamps work fine. I recently replace the far right side socket but I might need to replace the right side inner socket as well because I think it could be the connection. I bought the car used a few years ago and have about 94Kmiles at this time. The warning light will also come on out of nowhere when I'm driving where the light on the instrument [panel will come on then go out after a few min when I press on the brake pedel. It's just enough to be annoying at times. It all started last fall when I took my wife and son for a ride past my high school of years back. There is a road that has 2 sharp (even more sharp than that
) turns.(and yes my "S" button was on in the s40) Of course I was re-living my "youth" driving the way I did back then pretending to be in my parents then new VW Scirocco. Anyway, my son enjoyed the ride unlike my wife who didn't. LOL. It was at this time I noticed the warning light on the instrument panel. I pulled over to the side of the road and checked to see if anything was not working
. (I didn't have the owners manual in the car at the time so I didn't know what the warning light was for
) When I went back into the car, started it and put in drive, the light went out. Now it does it occasionally. I checked the bulbs to make sure that they were secure along with the wire connection to the socket. I have another problem
... with my 6 disk CD player in the trunk where it's not reading any of the CD's.(the CD's are actual purchased CD's and not homemade copies) The in dash radio says 0:00 and will not play anything but that's another topic. My S40 is fun/spirited to drive with the "S" button of course.
