Bulb Failure Position Light
I keep getting a message telling me that there is a "Bulb Failure Position Light". I will get this message for the better part of a day and then the message will go away. Should I take it to the dealer in anticipation of it being an electrical problem or should I just try to change the bulb. It has happened twice in the past two months. I don't think it is a big deal, but I really do not know what a "position light" is.
I went thru the same issue on my 02 s60t and finally got some advice that worked all I did was change all 4 bulbs at once and the problem went away about 1 month now hope this helps.............Jerry
Thanks for the information and suggestions guys. I will figure out what to do with it at this point. It is just something that is annoying. I get the message and then after the message goes away, I look at the taillights and they all seem to be working.
thats weird....I had that problem in my old car, in the s40 (now I have a s80 t6
), when I'd hit the brakes it would come on, when i would release the brakes it would stay on and go away later. Im sure you tried this already, Hold your brake pedal down and check if all of the lights come on?

The S40 has a little bit of a different system in it. The light will stay on for a little while if the Brake light is out. It is a reminder to get it changed.
When you replace the bulbs, put some bulb grease on them. That seems to help mine last longer. You can get bulb grease in little packets at Autozone, etc. About $.99.
Are these rear bulbs a pain in the butt to change? My car just triggered this bulb position light this afternoon and havent had a chance to look at the replacement process. Im assuming you just go in thru the trunk?
