My 2000 S40 CE light came on recently. The engine started running terrible. It was terrible at idle and hardly any power at take off. My fuel economy cut in half. I stopped at a local auto parts store and had them pull a code. It was cam sensor/ #1 cyl. misfire. I replaced the plugs which seemed to help but did not fix the problem. The sensor is $180. I hate to spend this money if the sensor is not my problem. I can crank the car and unplug the sensor and there is no change. Can anyone suggest any solutions?
