Car defaults to hot air when it starts even when it is set to AC mode
Hi,
I have recently started having some issues with my 2005 Volvo S40,
When I start my car it automatically defaults to hot air ( we are talking that hot air you will get when setting it on the highest heating option) If I the proceed to turn the air up to the highest setting (from the lowest/AC) and then back down to the lowest it will start blowing out cold air again. This is something that doesn't happen all the time but more often than not. One of these times my stereo also refused to let me change the radio channel tuning frequency. Has anyone else had this problem or know what could be wrong?

There are some days that my car gets stuck on hot - and it is extremely hot. I have to turn off the fan and close off the vents to stop myself from getting toasted. Nothing I do to the switches changes things. I usually have to turn the car off and then back on to get things to normalise.
I am told that it is a fault with the damper motor. See link below.
