Default CEL on, codes P0500 & P1618, need advice (01' S40)

i have a 2001 S40, it is currently giving several codes on a OBD2 scanner

codes:
P0500 (veh speed sensor a malfunction)
P0168 (manu control aux inputs, aux outputs)

Symptoms from car:
-Check Engine Light is on
-Up Arrow on in instrument cluster (transmission arrow?)
-Car's transmission slips randomly when driving it (i don't believe the trans is bad, i think it is jumping in and out of gear because of these codes possibly)
-and last, sometimes it throws a code for the O2 sensor

I need some advice on how to isolate these issues and where to start. I am very mechanically minded, just not that experienced with this VOLVO.... lol

I have to get these issues resolved, so i can get it inspected in North Carolina, so that i can have it registered and legally drive it.

Any advice or suggestions, will be greatly appreciated... also, if this has already been discussed on this forum and you can point me towards that discussion, i would appreciate it.

It is hard to tell if the codes are related because your over the counter scanner cannot read the codes from the transmission. It may be best to have a volvo tech scan it with the actual volvo software. Then you will be able to know what is going on in the trans.
