just wondering what is going on....
than today my wife said the engine light stayed on,,,looked at the car and she did not have the gas cap closed,,,told her in t he future , close til you hear the click of the gas cap..and the engine light went to how it was befiore when you start the car ,,it comes on,,,also a new light came on which is a check engine light for canadian models...so i wonder from my wife driving with the gas cap loose, could of caused the new light????????
any input would be appreciated

RE: check engine light ?
There are two different lights, one is service light and the other one is the check engine light. The service will come on automatically after 750 hours of use or after 12 month as the manual said, the light will stay on for about 2 minutes after the car starts. Is very simple to reset this light, you can do it as fallowing:
1. Hold down the odometer button
2. Turn the ignition so all the lights come on (on position but dont start it)
3. Keep holding the odometer down for 30 secs or until the service light starts flashing
4. Release the odometer button while service light flashing
5. Turn off and on again to check
regarding the check engine light is posible that can came on if you didnt close the gas cap or didnt adjust it well, so the check engine light should go off after closing well the gas cap, maybe it could not go off instantly but it should go off later if the reason is the gas cap.
