I just purchased a Volvo S40T5 and it has 1000 miles on it. Today the check engine light came on, so I brought it into the dealership. They hooked it up to the computer and said that it was just a warning light to tell me that there was a download from Volvo that had to be put into the car. I do not have onstar or anything like that, so how would Volvo know that my specific car had an update to download? I guess I am just concerned that there was something else wrong with the car and they did not tell me. Has this happened to anyone else or does it even sound plausable? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like BS to me.
It most likely was a code and the Software fixed the problem.
