Default Check Engine w/ flashing arrow lights ON

Two days ago, I had the struts and shocks replaced on my 2000 s40 with 109k miles. Yesterday I had a front end alignment.

Today, the Check Engine light is on AND there is a flashing arrow on at the same time.

Any ideas?

For me the flashing arrow was for running the car in gear up on jack stands. The fix was to erase the trouble code since nothing was really wrong.

With your car I'd check the trouble code then erase it and see if it returns.

Thanks, Brother.

Car worked fine for @ 25 miles after the alignment. The trouble lights floored me.

The flashing arrow light wasn't even noted in the owners manual. It is the same arrow that lights in "W" (winter mode) on the transmission selection. My passenger said that an incorrectly closed fuel cap could result in Check Engine. Guess what??? I hadn't fueled in a week---but open/closing it cleared the flashing arrow.

My neighbor took a car in for a tune-up and after @25 miles, his check engine light went on. $250.00 later, the tune-up place fixed it. Later...on television...a program aired that documented auto shops slitting vacuum lines...small undetectable razor cuts that didn't cause the light to go on immediately, but did shortly. Scam.

The shop that did the suspension work, and the shop that did the alignment both reported noticing "dark colored" engine oil. I had just changed it 760 miles ago....and after cleaning the dipstick you can tell it is honey colored and clear. Also I just found two harnesses that were obviously moved to accommodate the suspension work...but were carelessly not returned to the correct position. Hackage.
