Chip upgrade + Void Warranty

I want to get a Chip...not sure which company yet but I'm caught up on warranty issues. I know that they have to prove it caused the problem in order to cancel the warranty but I also heard that sometimes they will just make up a lame excuse that caused the problem. Also does a chip cause any problems to the car? Do I have to use 93 octane if I got a chip?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

If your turboed your suppose to be using Premium gas already. Not to mention you should when you get an ECU upgrade.
A chip will cause more wear and tear on your car yes and it could lead to other problems. It wont cause immediate problems but down the road it could.
I wouldn't get a chip unless your warranty is up.
Unless your able to get the BSR PPC which you can return to your OEM software whenever you want.

Alright, thanks alot for the response. I wasn't aware that I should be using premium already but I'll start. I was really unsure whether I wanted to get the chip but now you've made up my mind for me. Also I was looking at the BSR PPC but that will still have the wear and tear.....just not as much because I don't always have to drive with the upgrade? I also heard that if they checked the computer they can see that the code has been changed or something like that....as far as you know is that true?
Again thanks alot.
Again thanks alot.

Yeah you don't have to use Premium, your car will run fine on Regular. However Volvo's should use higher grade gas then Regular. I use Regular all the time, but I just filled up a few days ago with 93 Premium and it does make a difference.
The BSR PPC will still put wear and tear on your car yes. Once you plug the unit in and do the upgrade leave it as is. However when you want to take it to the dealership plug the unit back in and turn the car back to stock. It is really simple.

Alright, Thanks alot.
I'll have to try premium but gas is up to $3.15 here for 89 [>:]
And I think I'll consider the BSR PPC but maybe I'll wait until I'm closer to my warranty being expired............2010 [:@]

Even if you chip your car you may not necessarily put more wear and tear on your car. It depends on you drive the car. Most people once they get performance mods tend to driver the car harder, the simple explanation for this is because they want to feel what they paid for.
But some on the other hand buy performance mods and never use them, so doing that may not hurt your car that much.
Food 4 thought
