cleaning dirty IAC. still looking for a new gasket.
Finished the IAC cleaning today, but I'm still looking for a new gasket. Following I document the process:
step1, remove the 2 bolts, it's eary to use wretch to remove the upper bolt, but the bottom bolt can't be reached, at last, it was removed by hands.
step2, lift the plastic tab and push down to disconnect it. then unplug the the wire.
step3, spray the cleaner, and remove the dirty.
open issue, the gasket is wired out, crispy and broken. where to get a new one?
and, how to screw tightly the bottom bolt? Any advice will be appreciated.

Your experienced symptoms of a bad IAC were...?
Are you running the car without the gasket now?
I would suggest calling a local dealership and asking them. Couldn't cost more than a couple bucks.
Question about the throttle body and air intake cleaner you used. Doesn't it say not for fuel injected cars or something in the instructions? I bought CRC stuff to do the job and it says not for turbo cars?! WTF? It should be fine anyway. Just wondering.

First, mine is 2002 S40 1.9T, yours is 2001 S40 1.9T, we're in the same trench to fight against long starting, right? I decided to fight again although I wanted to give up a month ago.
I'm sorry I couldn't find any local Volvo dealers to buy the gasket, and I have stopped by Autozone and Autopart shops, the guys told me to go to 'volvo only'. Now, the broken gasket is installed. I don't think it's good enough, someday I have to visit dealers in Houston to get new one.
Before beginning, I have read alot of discussion, I believe the cleaning will help. In fact, it was very dirty. It was a good job except for the gasket. I think I'm doing the right thing, but I still suggest you make sure the new gasket is available before action.
At the last, the reason I chose STP is that I read 1warhelion's document, he used STP. The CRC is more expensive than STP, may be better.

I don't find any like 'not for use with fuel injected vehicles' in the instructions and attached 2 pics here. If the compressed pic isn't clear pls leave an email to which I'll send the previous ones.
Thanks for the information from Tech and you. It's like the light in the darkness for me.

So heavy snow you have, do you active the 'WET' mode?
Today I have a driving in town and feel the accelerating is better than before. When the traffice light turns from red to green, it's easier than before to move the car from stand to 40MPH speed for the accelerator is more sensitive. It comes from the I.A.C clearning I think. On the other hand, there's no clear change for the long starting.
