Code P0011 showing
I have a 2004 S40 and it has a code of P0011. I bought a Cam Position Sensor but I hate to install it, most of what i have read sound like belt is off one tooth. I have had the car for 10,000 miles and when i got it i took it to the dealer and was told the belt looked new so I did not have it done. It gets worse also it also has codes P0089,P0172,P0194,P0420. Any help? Thanks

A multitude of fun codes, eh? The first thing I would do is erase all the codes and see which ones return and how fast. If the CPS is bad it will throw a code immediately. If you haven't replaced the timing belt recently (or ever) it's highly unlikely you would somehow be off only one tooth. When the belt slips it's usually catastrophic. Mine bent 8 valves. This on a 1.9L 2001 model. You can always remove the plastic timing cover and look at the timing marks to be sure.
The P0089, P0172, and P0194 seem related. Have you had any issues with a hard start or hesitation or loss of power? This could be a bad fuel pressure regulator. You need to check the pressure to be sure.
The last one may be related to the above problem in that you have too much fuel reaching the cat conv and it cannot handle it. I would save this problem for last after resolving the other issues.

The cam gears have tiny little marks, the plastic timing cover has a larger cut.
You never said your year and engine type. On the 2000-2004 1.9L engine the crank gear has an easy to find mark as does it's mate on the engine. The newer 2004.5+ 2.4L and 2.5L engines have 2 marks on the crank gear where you place the engine mark between the two marks. At least that's what my VIDA says as I've yet to replace my 2005 S40's timing belt.
