Default cold air intake question

would this kit fit a 2001 volvo S40 1.9t? It says it fits the 2.0L L4 F/I 136BHP (1999-2003).

Yes it could be made fit but it couldnt be further away from being a cold air intake. Its nothing more than an open cone filter with a "heat shield" sucking hot air from under the hood.It is ridiculusly overpriced for what it is a cone K&N filter can be picked up at any auto store for about $50.For the same money you could pick up a panel filter which is a straight drop in replacement and keep the OEM cold air intake.

What I mentioned above the best option is to get a performance panel filter either K&N or Fram Airhog which are to replace the current OEM filter without any modification. This way you are keeping the factory CAI.

Want better acceleration look into a downpipe and catback system upgrade as well as an ECU tune.

Like said above. The very least you should remove the second CAT located underneath the car. This should net you about 18HP alone. If want even more but nothing too crazy you can swap the turbo for a 14T and raise the boost to 15PSI.Of course in this case you also would need a boost gauge to keep the boost checked.Even on the current 12T turbo you could adjust the boost with a tune and/or manual boost controller.

Even though none of my ideas I gave you are "CHEAP" they are the options available to get a faster car. YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY. And you PAY dearly in the Volvo aftermarket world.
