cv joint stuck in tranny
Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get a cv joint out of a transmission. I used a puller to get it out of the hub and it was a bitch get out, I was sure I was going to strip the puller's screw but it finally budged with some lubricant. When I went to pull it out of the differential, it just wouldn't budge. I've hit it with PB-blaster and banged on it with a hammer as much as my manuevering room under the car allows. Should I keep banging away or heat it up? Has anyone run into this before? (BTW, I've pulled cv-joint off of other vehicles I've owned before and only once has one been stuck but I was able to pull it off with a really hard pull).
Thanks,
Bill

RE: cv joint stuck in tranny
I've tried to tap a couple of different prybars and a pickle fork in between the inner joint and the tranny (I banged on the pickle fork with a hammer to try to pop the joint out) but it won't go in. I'm actually pretty surprised at how resiliant the little sucker is. I imagine that the splines must be rusted in because it doesn't seem like the circlip could possibly be holding it in that tight. I imagine that if I had it on a lift and could give it a couple of full swings it "might" come loose but I only have about 16 inches to work with.
