Default Drive Cycle

I took my 2002 Volvo s40 to a Volvo repairman around Veteran's day. He replaced a temp sensor that was giving the error code P0118. I also had the red silhouette of a human figure sitting in the driver's seat on my dash. It gave me the code about driver's seat belt needed replacement and some other's codes.

The repairman only fixed the reason for the P0118 code. However, he cleared all codes on my Volvo s40. He said the light of the drivers sitting in the driver's seat showing on the dash would come back on after one drive cycle. That was around veteran's day last month.

The light has yet to come back on. It has been almost a month now a no light. How long is a drive cycle?

One drive cycle is start engine-drive-engine off. In a month you will have completed dozens of drive cycles.

Your seat belt problem was the best kind, the kind that fixes itself, at least temporarily.

Different codes have different drive cycles. The SRS system is checked almost constantly. You had an intermittent fault. It may come back, it may not.

Uh-oh. I went for a drive about a hour ago - lunch. As I was backing out of my parking spot - without my seatbelt on - I noticed that the red silhouette on the dashboard was not lit - which it is for reminding me to put my seatbelt on.

As I said in a previous post the light has not come on since I got my Volvo s40 2002 back from the dealer repair on Veteran's Day last month. I believed that since I had some small repair made that maybe it meant other things (there are two more) were also fixed.

Now I am not so sure. If the seatbelt light does not come on when I do not have my seatbelt on and locked, then maybe that light is broken and the problems still exist.

Also, when I turn on the engine during startup the light does not come on as other the dashboard lights do.

Maybe the light is simply broken.

Any help appreciated.

Respectfully,

DiCE / VIDA will tell you. It stores all codes unless explicitly told to forget them.
