Driver seat issue

Driver seat issue
My 2006 S40 driver seat (leather) is not holding up very well. I am a rather average to small size woman and I find it disturbing that my driver seat has developed a "butt print" in the upholstery. When I took it to the dealer for inspection he stated that indeed "it is uncomfortable to say the least" and then agreed to call in the area rep. Needless to say, after further inspection Volvo will not warranty the seat for this problem. I only have 39,000 miles on the car. I have owned several other automobiles with leather seats and none of them have donethis. Any thoughts?

RE: Driver seat issue
That sounds strange to me. My cars all have at least 130K on them and are at least 10 years old and the seats are fine. I see a little wear on the leather on the drivers seat back outside edge, but the seat part is perfect. I would keep complaining to your factory.
Let's move this to the S60 forum and see if others have the same problem. I will take care of moving it.

RE: Driver seat issue
My 850 too was 12 years old and had 140,000 plus miles, and except for the crackings in the driver's seat (no cracking on the pax-side), the seat was one of the bests I can remember.
The urethane core may have deformed, if it leaves a butt print. You could try a bottle of leather seat cleaner/conditioner liquid but it wouldonly help superficial imperfections. You may be able to swap the urethane cushion part with the pax-side seat, but this may require deactivation of SIPS (Side Airbag) so I would let a pro do it.
If it were my car, I would probably try to find a seat at a junkyard and recondition it, unless it is weathered beyond repair.

RE: Driver seat issue
Thanks for the note JPN,
I am really disappointed in the quality of this seat as I have only had the car for 1 1/2 years and it only has 39,000 miles. Am I the only one who is surprised that the support of this seat is already failing? Is there no warranty for this kind of issue?

RE: Driver seat issue
If it is that uncomfortable and Volvo refuses to do anything, I would take it to a car upholstery shop and get a quote on what they would charge to replace the foam with some better stuff. Since nobody else is saying they have the same problem I'm surprised the Volvo Factory Rep will not do something to make good.
