Drivers door problem opening
I am new at this and don't really know all the proper terms, so please bear with me.
Ihave a 2001 S40 and just recently my driver's side door has been giving me problems. My key remote broke a while back so I have been using my key to unlock the door. I can open the door with my key in it and turned to unlock but when I turn the key back to get it out, the lock comes back down too causing me not to be able to open the door. From the inside, I would have to pull up on the lock and pull the handle at the same time to get out. Now, the inside handle has broken and the only way to open the door is to roll the window down, put the key in the door, turn and pull the handle.
Does anyone know what is wrong with my door and what part(s) I will need to fix it? My fiancee' can fix just about anything but I thought I would try to find the problem first.
Thank you!
Lisa

RE: Drivers door problem opening
thanks! My fiance did take the door apart at my requestand there was a little yellow plastic piece that was broken. I know we need to replace that but I couldn't imagine that being the reason my lock was so acting up. Do you know where I can get another one of those plastic pieces that go on the rods? Also, can I use WD-40 on the lock so it's not so hard to turn?
