First check the owners manual for location of the fuel boxes (newer models may have more than one) and check the fuses servicing those components. If you don't have the manual in the glove box, you can find them online (ie search "2006 Volvo S40 owners manual" and you'll find a link to Volvo's documents site)

Kind of hard to say given we have no idea of the vintage of the car in question. Yes, there probably is a "door module" associated, and I'm sure a garage would be more than happy to charge you for one.

But if was me, I'd spend five minutes to see if there's a blown fuse. Call me cheap.

What year car?

Check the interior fuse panel. Check all the fuses because I have seen my S40 act very strange with one blown fuse that was unrelated to the actual problem.

Check the fuses before replacing the Central Electronic Module.
