Engine rev up when put into drive

Engine rev up when put into drive
Hi guys a quick question. When 1st start the car and put into drive I noticed the engine revs up to about 1000~1200 rpm then drops down to normal (800~1000rpm) . What does this tell you? It's only happen when you 1st start the car in the morning or has shut down for a while and restart again. Thanks
