engine stalling when cold
Hi all!!
I am the proud owner of a 2000 S40 T4. I have had it since new. It was put into service a about 1.5 months ago and has not been the same since.
When cold it starts great but then some problems arise. When idling, just after start, I try to reverse it out of the garage and it coughs and splutters resulting in a stall. This happens every morning. I t was never doing this before the service. If i let it sit and bring the revs up to about 1500 for about 45 secs to 1 min, the problem is not there any more and i can reverse it out no probs.
I took it back to the service centre and they replaced a fuel pressure regulator as they thought it was faulty. It was tested and then given the all clear. The problem still persists.
It is a cold winter here in Sydney Australia (the coldest in many years) this year temps are about 5 degrees c to 8 degrees c in the morning at startup.
Any help would be appreciated!!

RE: engine stalling when cold
there are lots of possible causes why engine stalls: dirty fuel filter; dirty air filter; an old engine coolant; bad spark plugs; and bad timing belt. it would be best to check all your volvo parts to see what might be causing the problem? anyways, have you done some tune-up lately? just give us an update regarding this matter.
