fault codes
greetings earthlings got a tough one for ya...
My '01 S40 after starting has a rough idle and is kicking out a P0303 and P0302. I repplaced the ignition coil controling cylinder 2 & 3. didn't help. Next I replaced the plugs (Autolite double platinum) and gapped them to spec (.7mm), still nothing. I swapped the ignition coils and the fault changed to P0301, interesting... I went to the dealer for plug wires; there are only two and they connect to cylinder 3 & 4 ignition coils. I just ordered a second ignition coil and hope this is the cure (great 80's band...). Anyway, at hwy speeds she runs smooth and fine and even in some local traffic she's smooth, but every now and then...
My question is: after I change all the obvious fault code related parts what do I look for next? Maybe open the plug gap a bit? The plugs I replaced (Champions) had a gap of .40 which is wider than the spec of .7mm (from my Haynes manual). She only has 68K on the ODO and runs with Mobil 1 fully synthetic, K&N air and nothing else worth mentioning.
Thank you for reading my short story...
