Default A few s40 problems.

Hello forum

I recently got a 2000 s40 and immediately ran into issues. I was leaking massive oil and eventually found our that it was the cam shaft seal. Replaced the deal. Problem solved......no. now I'm leaking oil on the rear of the engine, not sure from where exactly yet. Also throwing code for misfire in cylinder 4 (replaced the plug) and a vacuum leak.
I just tested the oil dipstick tube and it is poofing smoke, there is also oil on the valve cover. I just finished digging my way down to the oil trap, expecting it to be the culprit of my excessive crank case pressure, however the oil trap seems very clean, the block port are not clogged. Am I missing something? Maybe open v alve? Vacuum le ak causing all this?

Any help us mucho appreciated

Travis

Figured it out, seems to be bad rings in cylinder 4. 90psi and when I add a little oil to the cylinder it reads 120. Not really excited about having to rip the head off, but I gotta do what I gotta do. Anyone suggest a good place to get rings? gaskets?

When my 2001 bent the exhaust valves I bought engine parts from several sources. Between these I've found what I need:
VOLVO S40 Parts 2000-2012 at Swedish Auto Parts
Volvo Parts, BMW Parts, European Car Parts | FCPGroton.com
Volvo Parts, Accessories and Performance Specialist Since 1963
01 2001 Volvo S40 Camshaft Gear - Engine Mechanical - Genuine, Scan-Tech, Intake - PartsGeek

That will be the turbo oil drain o-ring seal at the block.

Before you tear it down you might try Auto-Rx. If the problem is severely coked rings and not broken ring(s), Auto-Rx will free the rings and restore your compression within a thousand miles or so.

Tried the Auto RX but I blew out all my oil within a couple hundred miles. Still trying to figure out why there is so much pressure in the block that its blowing out oil gaskets. Still low compression in cylinder 4, not sure if its bad rings or bad valve seals.

Whats my next move? How can I figure out the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

ok, so I did I did a leakdown test after a compression and it confirmed my suspicions. I pressurized cylinder 4 and my dipstick tube erupted with a fountain of oil like ol' Faithful. Time to do rings. Not looking forward to it.
