First Volvo - 2005, S40 T5
bought my first volvo - had many german and a few japanese cars, but this is my first Swedish. Like it so far, but a couple things I will have to research.
1 - lotta road noise - last guy had 42 psi in the tires and I am afraid they ruined the tires.
2 - think i have a fuel problem, as the check engine light went on then off - the autozone check said it was a fuel system issue. I now notice the car cutting out from time to time. maybe a fuel filter, but something tells me it will not be that simple.
anyway, I look forward to spending time navigating the site and learning about Volvos

Hi, Paul...
Yours may not actully have a fuel filter (I've never found one on my non-turbo '05 S40, despite the pretty picture of one in the Haynes manual...I've since found out that several of the early ones didn't have one, or had some special "permanent" type of fiter.....go figure)
The cutting out (Maybe some bucking like a bronco?)...been there....Probably 1) a fuel pressure regulator, or maybe 2) it's time to change the 5 ignition coils (the first one happened to me about 4 yrs ago, the second one in late 2012....143,000 miles, maybe no surprises here)
Congrats on your volvo purchase....Confucius say: May you live through interesting times....Hey, if you're willing to get a bit dirty and do some of the repairs, you'll save yourself a bundle.
