flame trap and oil separator
hope someone can help a UK
member please ,I own a 1600 S40 XS can anyone tell me where the flame trap is, if it as one UK Haynes manual says it is below the throttle linkage not sure what to look for also if this model as a oil separator again Haynes Manual says it is below the inlet manifold I cannot see anything like the pictures in said manual the reason for asking is because I have a noise and slight blow back through filler cap, none through dipstick pipe as shown on U TUBE and its driving me mad many thanks.

Check the owners manual and see what the recommended service mileage is and if you have exceeded it buy the parts and have it changed. If you can't locate the parts, you will likely need someone else to change them out.
thanks for the reply car is a 1999 model which I bought in October It as 143000 miles on the clock, regular serviced it is as I say I cannot see these items but I was hoping to do the job myself

Google the instructions and go at it. If you can't find specific instructions to your car, use the ones that are there for another model like the 850 and you'll figure out the differences.
not confident to take manifold off to replace oil separator, price to have done at garage to much when car only cost £500 I am going to try seafoam new here in UK got it on e-bay as anyone tried it in a S40
