Question Oil loss through flame trap

1980 245DL. About 3k miles ago had my Volvo technician install a B230 block with new rings and bearings. Used originial B21F head, valve train and valve cover. Blocked off the original B230 flame trap outlet at base of engine. Problem: oil consumption through the flame trap saturating air filter and blowing blue smoke on acceleration at higher rpm. Seems not to happen at lower rpm around town. Early on had an incident where we fogged a neighborhood but that happened at moderate rpm and has not re-occurred. Just the occasional puffing blue smoke at higher rpms and oil in filter box. Assume the oil enters engine through the hose that runs from the flame trap nipple to the intake manifold. Another thing--when I take the hose that attaches the nipple to the valve cover I do not feel air pressure from the outlet at low rpms. Not sure at high rpms. The incidents only happen while driving on interstates at higher rpm. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Bob
