On my 2001 s40 there is a courtesy light that illuminates the floor when I open the driver door. I didnt notice until recently that there is not the same thing on the passenger side. Is there supposed to be one there and the bulbs are just burnt out, or did volvo not put a floor courtesy light on the passenger side for this particular car? I tried to look under the dash to see where the light might be (if it exists) but could not find such a thing.

 

You are supposed to have one on the other side to.

 

Any advice on exacltywhere i should be looking?

 

Look up under the dash by where the black panel meets the dash.

I might be wrong never 100% paid attention to the lights.

I will try to check tomorrow to know 100%. This way I could also tell you exactly 100% where it is.

 

I couldn't find one on the passenger side of my car either. The big cabin filter thing covered with felt is in the way.

 

There is a passenger courtesy light on my C70 located just under the glove compartment on the lower half of the dash on the right side. just about where most people's right knee would be located.

This one caught me off-guard too, I drive V70 and S60 T5's for work and bought an S40 T4 purely because I love the whole volvo package.

I thought my passenger foot well light was blown but on having a good look (the drivers one is easily found) I discovered that they are only inthe drivers footwell.... Annoying but hey-ho, mypassenger doesn't need to check the foot well for obstructions when they jump in, the driver does.

 

Same here looks like I was wrong originally the ones at work didn't have one either.
