It wasn't too difficult on my '02 S40 and should be similar on your '07. I think it took me an hour for each side. You will need a decent spring compressor and an impact gun (air or electric will do). This is for getting the retaining nut off the shaft.

You might consider changing the top strut mounts while you have them off. They tend to wear and make noise over bumps.

You need new struts already? I just changed my struts and strut bearings on my 2001 S40 and that was only because the strut bearings were knocking over bumps. The struts themselves were still good.

Usually shocks and struts will start to loose some of their control capabilities by 60K miles. This is not to say that they have failed. At 85K miles I am giving thought to replacing mine.

Thanks for the info, sounds fairly simple.I was told that the right front is leaking and both fronts struts should be replaced,180 per side @ the dealer.I was always told that they should be replaced at 60k.The car has 62k on it so this is not a surprise.I'll price out the parts and see which way is cheaper

If you have decent tools and a strut spring compressor then you are set. You should get a wheel alignment after you are done.
