Fuel Pressure Regulator Install Question:
Just changed my FPR due to the typical long crank times.... car starts great now!
Question is when you push the fuel line into the blue quick release connector and it snaps, locking the fuel line into the top of the regulator, is the blue connector designed so that the top ring snaps off? This happened when I connected the line and it locked into place and I noticed this same ring was broken off on my old FPR when I was removing it.
Seems like it was designed to do this (to verify the line is 'locked' in), but just wanted to confirm.
By the way, easy 30 minute job to fix long crank times (I'm a novice).

Anyone who has replaced just the metal part on a 2000 S40 please post up where you bought the FPR from and explain how you got the old one off and then replaced.
Tech, is there any difference in the years for this part?

In trying to pinpoint my starting problem I tried something. My car did it's long crank thing today and I quickly tapped the gas and it started right up. I was told to try this by a user on s40concepts.net. HE says this suggest the A.I.C. valve. Do you concur tech? I'm going to try and clean it today and we'll see what happens. Is there a chance I would need a new valve? How much does that cost?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I would try cleaning it. I have not had to replace any before but I have heard that alot of people have.
I would clean it and see if that fixes it.
I cannot really see that it would fix it but you never know. The motor really should not work untill the car is actually running but give it a shot.

So dealer wants $400 for FPR and install! NO WAY!
I need to know specifically what to pull off to check for fuel. A labeled picture would be great! (please!) I did take off the TB cover to have a looksee and there were no visible signs of leaking, but the little hoses had some cracks. Car is now doing long cranking even after 20 mins of sitting if the temp is over 30 degrees outside. Someone mentioned my injectors could be leaking, flooding the engine with fuel. Do you concur? Is that a common thing? I only have 90,000 miles. That seems low mileage for something like that!
Thanks tech!

Remove the cover again and you will see a hose white plastic with an elbow on each side.
It kind of looks like a S remove it from the intake and see if gas comes out. Sorry don't have a pic.
