Fuel Pressure Regulator Install Question:
#21
IT's gotta be the FPR.
I went to check it today and when I went to pull the hose off the TB I noticed it is cracked and falling apart. I put a pliers on there to pull it off and they were digging into the rubber. I stopped right then. God only knows how old this part is!
Thanks for advice, I will let ya know what happens!
If this doesn't do the trick, what's the next step?

So I bought a new FPR from myswedishparts and it came, but it's been too cold to install it.
I bought a bottle of gum out injector cleaner and put it in with my fresh tank of premium. Probably have to do a couple bottles before I actually notice anything.
The problem seems to be getting worse. It cranks a long time at every start-up except first thing in the morning, which is weird

Thanks for rubbing it in jotadesv!
I leaning more towards either injectors themselves leaking or the O-rings are so cracked and decrepit that they are letting in fuel. Seems to me 90,000 miles is too few to have injectors actually leaking so maybe O-rings it is.
How would I go about testing/replacing those?

hi, i'm new to this forum and i am having the same problem with my 2000 volvo s40. i took it to firestone to have the tires rotated and surprise, surprise, it didn't start. they said battery was dead and starter has to be replaced. they replaced the battery and got a new starter as well but still having the same problem. i took it back to firestone yesterday and they said they'll check the new starter if it was faulty and will order a new one. as i was reading through the thread, it seemed that it was the fpr. now i looked through ebay and came across this universal fpr (picture below). i am just wondering if anyone has ever tried a similar one and if this will work for the volvo. it says it fits s40 but i'm kind of worried that it might give me more problems. please help!!! thank you!
