Unhappy fuel problem???

Hello I have a 2005 s40 non turbo with a cel and code P0189 and P0192
so I changed the fuel rail pressure sensor and they went away and now P0089 comes up and CEL again?? Also now I have a sound I,ve not heard before which seems to be coming from the fuel tank area!! Is that where the fuel pressure regulator is located? or could I have messed something up changing sensor?
Thanks

Maybe the fuel pump is making the noise and is going bad.

If your car has a slow start, then change your FPR.... it's a good start. otherwise you'll spend some $ depending on the model.

Usually close to the fuel rail.

on the 2000 model of volvo, the FPR is located directly Beside (On the right looking at the engine) of the fuel rail

ENGINE-CODES* OBDII CODE LIST* P0089 VOLVO
P0089 VOLVO

P0089 VOLVO - Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance

Possible causes
- Fuel pressure sensor harness is open or shorted
- Fuel pressure sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Faulty fuel pump
- Fuel line restricted
- Faulty fuel pressure regulator
- Faulty fuel pressure sensor

That's what that code means and I'm going to bet that it's the fuel pressure regulator....

Get a fuel press regulator and an o2 sensor and you will have no probs.... Then clear your codes at an advanced auto parts and i bet it won't come back.

thank you I replaced the sensor and the codes pertaining to that went away but I'm going to check wires and connection to the sensor again I doubt anything there but you never Know I hope it was a good part!! this forum is a huge help thanks again

I have not found a part # for a fpr on 3 volvo parts sites for this car called Tasca and they don't show that there is one for this car. It must be on the pump in the tank!!

I think my 2005 FPR is on the fuel rail like the 2000-2004.5. Check under the plastic in the engine compartment for something like this 2001 S40 picture.

had to let this go for awhile still not sure whats wrong will take it to dealer if I don't trade for honda as there are a few other issues with this car. I'm going to ask dealer if the recall for the PEM has been done which could also be part or all of the problem.
