Fuel pump affected by immobiliser?
I have an M reg Volvo 440. The car wasn't used for a bit and the battery went low. I charged it overnight as I have done before but this time I think it effected the key fob immobiliser, which we never normally use (have two of them - both fob led lights go on but don't find the car). The dash led stayed on and indicators activate when door opens so sounds like the alarm was on. Wow hasn't been on for ever. But then the car wouldnt start. Dash lights on but dead like an immobiliser. Tried the under bonnet diagnostics and led stayed on full when button pressed and no other error code. Took out the no key over ride fuse and could strike the ignition but still like the fuel pump was immobilised. Tried taking out the fuel pump fuse and the same result. Mean time the dash led stayed on. Took off the battery overnight and tried again. It seems to have deactivated the alarm, but the engine won't ignite. And the diag box still only lights up when the button is pressed. No mention of an immobiliser in the manual and the fob doesn't appear to do anything. As I remember the fuel gauge only works when the ignition is on, so I can't be sure there is petrol but believe there is. So is the fuel pump immobilised and how can it be fixed without the key fob?
sounds like the immobilizer has engaged and is cutting off the pump. start by recharging the battery, reconnecting, then try resetting the immobilizer by using the fob to lock/unlock the doors 5-6 times. Then see if it fires up.
Thanks mt6127, the battery is charged and has been left disconnected overnight. That's how I reset the alarm immobiliser. But the fuel pump immobilisation is still active, it seems. The problem is neither of the key fobs connect with the car (despite the fob LED glowing) and also, the diagnostic box doesn't do much, except the LED glows red when the button is depressed. There are no morse code flashes, or so. Is there anyway to reset when the key fobs aren't active? Or a practical way to reset the key fobs when the diagnostix black box doesn't seem to be playing.

what year is your S40? Did you try locking/unlocking the doors 5x with the key (that may work on older models...) Its possible there are other problems (ie immobilizer battery failure, V70s/s60s have an "antenna ring" that can fail etc). Also did you check the fuel pump relay to make sure you are getting full power to the pump (they can get bad contacts that pass some voltage but not enough current)
mt6127, I have an M reg Volvo 440. The key works on only two doors, the rear doors don't have a lock and the boot is knackered. Where can I find the immobilser and the battery? The handbook mentions nothing of an immobiliser. While the fuel pump relay would mean calling in my local mechanic, I fear. And will have to do so if there is no manual way to reset the immobiliser.
what year? Can't speak to the location of the immobilizer as your model predates the S40s that came to the US. Alas, this forum is somewhat North America focused so you may try reading posts on the http://www.volvoforums.org.uk Volvo 440 forum.
As a guess, I'd think the alarm/siren module has its own battery similar to the later models but can't say for certain - I'd start looking up by the right front corner under the headlight area (again. you may get some insights by researching on the 740/940s assuming Volvo reused their design. As to the fuel pump relay, that should be clearly marked in the fuse box under the hood (along with other major relays) and is a plug in part from any auto parts store.

Today I change the time belt and the car doesn't start, Thinking that I left the time marks wrong recheck the three pulleys and is supposed all is right. During the days without work onthe car" the battery was unplugged, could be possible that the security system was triggered and cut the gas or spark power?
I only have the backup key, and the driver door lock sometimes work and sometimes doesn't, how can I fixed that.
