Default fuse box location

Where is the fuse box on the 2002 Volvo s40 and I am assuming that it will be easy to tell by inspection, if a fuse is blown or not.

I am also assuming that the fuses are easy to get.

Thanks in advance.

Respectfully,

Hi Newport,

The fuse box is pretty hidden, and its small. Its tucked up under the plastic dash cover that is under the steering wheel. If you look up under there, all the way to the left, you will see a small black plastic box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Its way up in there, maybe 1/2 inch is visible without climbing under there and looking. Just reach up in there and pull the cover off.

As for checking the fuses you will need to pull each one individually and check them. Hopefully you have the little Volvo fuse puller that is snapped onto the inside of the fuse box cover. Mine was missing and the mini fuse puller I bought was way too big to fit in the fuse slot to pull them out. The fuses are packed in close together. I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to gently pull one out.

Oh, this is on a USA model.

Let me know if you still can't find it, I can get a pic for you.

There is a second fuse box behind the battery in the engine compartment. These are the larger fuses and circuit breakers mostly. The fuel pump fuse is there tho.
