I have had a problem with long crank in my 2001 volvo s40, I have replaced the fpr and within 6months it started again. I also cleaned the idle valve. I came across a solution of installing an extra control valve with a t piece next to the fpr. The p/n for this kit is 30662287. Just wondering if anybody has tried this method and if it worked before i spend 150 bucks on the kit.

 

Did you ever install this Valve? I am wondering the same thing?

 

before you try to out-engineer Volvo, test to see if your fuel pressure regulator is in good working order. Normally they fail when the diaphram tears - you can pull off the s shaped vacuum line to see if any fuel drips out. If not, its quite possible your problem is elsewhere - idle air valve, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, coils, plugs etc.
