Hello all, my daughter bought a 2007 S40, she's in college, price was reasonable & it is in great shape. Question, are the headlights & tail lamps supposed to be on all time when the car is running? Is it some kind of Volvo safety thing? Appreciate any info

Most Volvos since ~1989 are set up for daytime running lamps. Earlier cars ~1989-2015? used full voltage to the headlamps and parking lamps all the time the ignition was on. Some cars in that years range are programmable to be able to use the off position on the light switch. But the default was headlamps and parking lamps on even in the off position.

 

thank you for the info, I figured the headlamps would be on, I didn't know the tail lamps would be on as well. I appreciate it!
