Default Help

I picked up a 2002 Volvo s40 and it's garbage! The windows, lights, heater/A.C. all don't work. The radio is not the correct one that belongs in the car, and there's so much more that I'm slowly trying to fix. But for now I at least want to be able to use the radio! I've called local Volvo dealers and they all kept coming up with a lock code that does not work. Even after I emailed a picture of the top and front of radio. It's not the factory one so they are confused and I've been waiting over 3 weeks for one simple 4 digit code that will unlock it. And I can't find a correct wiring diagram to just install a CD player radio that I have. Can anyone tell me other possible codes for the radio or a correct wiring diagram?

the radio codes are based on the radio serial number and the VIN of the original car - so if your radio is not the original to the car, the dealer will look up by the VIN and give you the wrong code. Google for "volvo radio codes" and you'll find sites like https://www.radio-code.co.uk/volvo-radio-codes.html which claim they can use the serial number from the radio to get you the code. Also look around - usually people write the code on the case of the radio or glove box or write it in the owners manual. The wiring diagram should be easy enough to find by googling just note the radio model. Check out Crutchfields.com or ebay for an install kit. Last option is you can also buy a replacement Volvo double DIN on eBay for $50-100 (just make sure the seller includes the code)
