Post Help with getting some parts

In my country, the official "agency" charges too much for some parts, so I'm trying to get them overseas on my own. I saw the sticky thread about aftermarket sites, but still want your advice on a couple things. I basically need the rear brake caliper, an automatic shift interlock solenoid (part number 8699457 by eeuroparts.com) and an Auto Trans Shifter Blind (I think it's part number 8699465 according to eeuroparts.com). According to https://www.skandix.de/ after inputting my car's VIN, the chassis on my model is 537295 and engine of type B4204S3. Using this information I was able to find the parts in sites like skandix itself (here's the right rear caliper) but also in FCPeuro (here) and a couple others. My question is, how do I make sure I buy the correct part for my car? I see for instance that those I listed show the part No. (Or OE number) as 36001766 and another one as 36000903 but they all look REALLY alike. I noticed also that some sites that let you search for parts only show Volvo S40 from 2011 as two versions (both T5 and 2.5L) but my Volvo isn't even T5 and it has 2L engine.

Basically my question is: how do I make sure the parts I buy are the correct ones for my car, and also what sites do you recommend buying from to make sure I'm not gonna get ripped off, either by excessive price or for incorrect parts. (I even found the brake caliper on
amazon amazon
, but again, not sure if it's the right one although it looks like it is). The idea is to send the parts to US first to a freight forwarder and then to my country. I think it maybe cheaper that way, but if you know of sites that could charge less to send to Costa Rica, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for all the help I can get.

The best way is to have access to VIDA software which is what dealers and shops use to see part #s and diagrams by model/year/serial number. If your car is 2014 or older, you can probably find a black market copy of the 2014d software on ebay.

A second option is to use dealer web stores like tascaparts.com and others (simply google "volvo xxxx" where xxxx is the genuine volvo parts number and you'll get a list of dealer stores). These sites are useful to give you the genuine Volvo part number, will show succeeding numbers and serial numbers for a mid year "parts break" change. Once you have the Volvo part number, you can then use that in any other web store to match up to an after market part or see if they carry genuine Volvo.

Thanks for the answer and advice. The problem I have though is that there seems to be an inconsistency between sites. For example, skandix says that 36001766 is the caliper for Volvo S40 and others. But tascaparts says that it isn't, or at least the S40 is not in their list of compatible models, but rather the 36000903 part. I thought skandix was a reliable site as well, so I'm still not sure what to do here. Are there sites that I can trust 100% and take them as a starting point to then search parts by model number? Also, can I assume that any part for Volvo S40 2011, regardless of if it's the T5 or new T5, is gonna fit my non T5 2.0L S40 of the same year?

Ok - i'll bite. With more info we might be able to get you accurate info. Year, model, eng, tran, market, VIN, mothers maiden name, etc.

For those 2 part numbers they are both RR exchange calipers. One is for up to chassis 462664, the other for beyond that. Those MIGHT be the only choices for 2004-20xx S40's.

What I have is the VIN (YV1MS434BB2537295) and I know it's a Volvo S40 from 2011 with 2.0L engine. That's about it. Skandix even tells me that as well based on the VIN. Skandix also tells me the chassis number like I put on my first post.

So based on what you showed me either of those 2 calipers would work right? And may I ask what tool are you using to search for the parts? Looks really thorough. Also, would you mind also looking for the auto trans shift interlock (Based on my research and what mechanics told me it looks like, it should be the part number 8699457. And finally, the shifter blind which looks like it's part number 8699465. Thanks!

1 . Depends on the Chassis number
2. Vida 2014D (volvo factory) parts catalog
3. Need more info - what is your transmission? (and engine?) Your VIN brings up a choice of MPS60 or MtX75 for trans options, with a B4204s3 engine. Really need more details to make sure the correct parts page comes up.
There are many options internationally - (in the US there is only one choice)
If you want the Volvo factory parts catalog - for cars up to 2016 - search for the free download of the stolen/hacked VIDA 2014D found easily for free on the Internet.

1. Chassis according to Skandix is 537295. Not sure how can I confirm this by myself though.
3. "
choice of MPS60 or MtX75". Again, not sure, but I know it's automatic, with a geartronic option. How can I check which one of those 2 is it?

1. 537295 is higher than 462665 so your caliper will be the xxxxx1766.
3. Sorry being from the US I have no idea what a MPS6 or MtX75 is .
Your parts page below gives me a choice of those transmissions (and lhd or rhd) - So without that info, anything I provide could be wrong.

It's LHD. I just wish there was a way to know what transmission it is. Do you think you can check if the calipers, the solenoid and the shifter blind is different between those 2 transmission options? Maybe it's irrelevant. And again, thanks a lot for all this help.

So now that we know is MPS6, could you do a quick search for those parts please? Next time I'll search for the software for sure, since I still haven't been able to find it. Thanks!

Is someone able to help me please? Looks like hoonk is probably away or not able to reply further. I tried downloading and installing the VIDA2014 D software but wasn't able to make it work, basically it says that it cannot start because port 80 is already in use. I just wanted to know the part numbers for the parts I need for my car. According to hoonk someone with the correct info can input that on the software and see what are the exact part numbers. Could someone else with access to the software be able to help me get those part numbers please? The car specifications needed are on the last message by hoonk above. The part numbers I need are for the rear brake caliper, an automatic shift interlock solenoid and an Auto Trans Shifter Blind. Thanks!
