Help locating MAF on 2005 Volvo S40
I am new to the forum and have done some extensive looking on here to help me find where the MAF is located on my Volvo 2005 S40 (no Turbo). I am at a loss based off of what I found and what the part is supposed to look like. My wife took the car into get an oil change and then the emissions test done. Very next day the Engine System Service Urgent light came on. I took it to Autozone to have them check the codes and their machine said there were no engine codes coming. The car seems to be driving fine. All dealerships are about 45 min. away and are not available until Monday. So I was hoping to find some answers on here. It looks like people have issues with the MAF and can be cleaned. I thought I would try replacing the air filter, cleaning the MAF to see if anything happens. I would rather try this then spend the 130.00 for a Volvo dealership just to check it out. This would be my last resort.....any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2001 V40. The MAF is located in the air filter housing - just downstream of the filter. If you unlatch the filter top and disconnect the filter top from the intake tube (big hose clamp) there is an electrical connector that connects to the MAF. Disconnect the connector and pull the assembly out of the car. There are 2x Torx screws (T25 I think) that hold the MAF into the plastic housing. Remove these screws and pull the MAF out of the housing. Then you can use some MAF cleaner and clean it. Don't touch it - it is very delicate - looks like two fine wires. Good luck.
