hey guys
Well after a couple of fillups, the rumors were true, the S40 suuuucks on gas? How can a little car like that jug down so much fuel? It reminds me of my buddy Dan, he weighs like 160 5'5 and can drink a 2 4 in one night like nothing.
What gives? What can I do to stretch out my mpg's? I read all types of chips and stuff on ebay any suggestions. A little more power would be nice too. A cold air? ECU upgrade?

 

Can everyone list there gas mileage here. My wife's car is getting about 24MPG's in the city (on-board computer). I'm about to take the car on a long highway drive so I'll check the mileage on that trip and report back here. Edmunds rates it at 22 city 30 hwy.

 

my 1.8 S40 got about 40 mpg on the motorway, to and from work am getting more like 30-32ish mpg.

 

my 05 S40 T5 gets around 27 avarage , in the summer with AC and for some reason wider and bigger wheels i get only 25 average

 

Our s40 gets 25 city and 32 highway. 95,000 miles with the 1.9 turbo. best vehicle i've ever owned

 

My 2001 with 115k gets 33.3 mpg at 75 mph with A/C on the highway! Average I get 28ish. I love that car, especially now with the gas prices!

my 1.9 turbo 2002 gets 28 on avg ( hwy and city) When i travel on the hwy only, i am at about 35.

i actually think that is great mileage.......do you have a lead foot??

i get 28-31 on highway and 22-25 city typically...usuing ethanol can suck down your mpgs...

 

That's my average as well. Unless I use the Turbo and the Sport mode on the transmision.

 

I'm about halfway through a two week vacation and I'm averaging 37.8MPG (mostly highway) over 850 miles. The first part of the trip was almost all highway and it got as high as 39MPG (I have the trip computer option). Average speed is only about 45 MPH according to the computer. My trick is to stay under 65 MPH and I'm very easy on the gas pedal from a stop. Check engine light just came on... Ugh.. I'll update again in a couple of days.

 

I own a 07 2.4I auto I average about 23/25 mix highway and street driving ..no complaints... 1/2 will bring me home from oxnard to LA...

 

I have a 2005 S40, 2.4 and I get about 29-27 mix Highway and Street. I live in New York so I can't consider my miles as highway because I always hit traffic on my way home. Can someone tell me how big is the tank for my S40. When the gas light comes on I only fill 11 gallons. Thanks.
