G'day lineup.

Two things against the particular car you are looking at:

1. No way would I buy any car with gaps in its service history, x10 for a T4 with its high pressure turbo engine.
2. The 40 series wasn't manufactuerd in Sweden like other Volvos, it was manufactured in Holland. Production started in 1996 & for the first year or so Volvo struggled to get build quality up to the same standards as their Swedish built models. For this reason I would steer towards '98 onwards just to be sure & if funds permit, after May 2000 for the improved Phase II.

Hope this helps in your deliberations.

I have a 2000 pre phase II t4. It was marketed in Australia as a special edition, yellow in colour, no woodgrain, carbon fibre dash and dark grey leather.

Fit and finish is not too bad and yes its made in Holland. My only qualm is the paint is not as good as it should be from the factory ie overspray

I personally wouldn't be touching a car which has no service history for that period of time. The 100,000km service is a major one and should be done religiously. I can't believe Volvo specify 20,000km service intervals. Its an absolute joke for a turbo car. I change oil and filter every 5000km which is a bit expensive as I use Mobil 1.

Turbo cars whatever make needs to have clean oil...
