This is my first Volvo, I have read that my S40 is capable of a good top speed of 135 MPH. I had a chance to find out this is true when I passed three slow autos on a stretch of straight road.... From 50 MPH I passed all three in one pass as it was clear sailing, in seconds I sped past the third vehicle, I glanced down at the speed-o-meter.... 100 MPH with pedal left! Sure did not feel that fast.... I told my wife of this and she said "What?"
I am sure it will do 135 with ease....

Air drag goes up by the CUBE of the speed. There's a long way between 100 and 135.

Do you live near Utah? They've got a salt flat there where you could explore this safely... Otherwise, you might surprise a civilian motorist that's expecting that approaching car to be traveling at 55 rather than nearly three times that.
